Semi-vanilla survival
A small survival server for adults. Survival is left alone: no new items or mobs, no money plugin, and no kits beyond a one-time starter kit for new players. Players run their own shops and pay in diamonds. We've just added some quality-of-life extras. The server runs on Hard mode. PvP is on outside spawn, the shopping district and claims, and inside a claim only if its owner switches it on. Java and Bedrock players can both join. We don't sell anything for real money.

Get in at the start
Andesite SMP only opened in September 2026, so it's small for now, and you'd be getting in at the start. There's untouched land in every direction, and you'll soon know everyone by name. It won't stay this small forever. In a world that never resets, the people who arrive early build the landmarks everyone else finds later.
Members play from the UK, elsewhere in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia, and nobody is expected to be online every evening. It's busiest in the UK evening and at weekends, with a quieter stretch around UK lunchtime.
This world isn't going anywhere.

Never reset, and it never will be. Backed up every hour. What you build becomes part of the history of the same world everyone else inhabits, and if you join now, you're in it from the start. Starting again every six months rather defeats the point.
Claims keep what you build yours: inside one, nobody else can break your blocks or open your chests, and PvP is off unless you switch it on. Block changes are logged, so if something does go wrong, it can be put back.

See the world properly.
The server supports Distant Horizons and Voxy, letting compatible clients see terrain stretching far beyond Minecraft's normal render distance. Both are free and optional.
A faster machine of its own
Andesite SMP is saving up for a machine of its own, so it runs smoother for everyone. Chipping in is entirely optional.

A few practical conveniences

Keep what you build.
Use a golden shovel to mark out land other players cannot alter. You start with 2,000 claim blocks and earn more every hour you play.
The golden shovel has precisely one glamorous job: property law.

Getting back shouldn't be the difficult part.
Set up to three homes for the places you return to regularly.

Spawn comes with an exit strategy.
Climb into the cannon and let it throw you out towards somewhere new, 500 to 9,500 blocks away.
Walking away from spawn works perfectly well. We built a cannon anyway.
There if you want it.
Optional proximity voice chat for players who prefer talking. It is not required, and it's never recorded.

Want to join?
Andesite SMP is whitelisted and for players aged 18 or over. There is a short application on Discord. It is mostly there to make sure this is the kind of server you are looking for.
Press Apply (Java) or Apply (Bedrock) in #apply on our Discord.
Fill in a short form. It takes about a minute.
Replies usually come within a day, often within the hour. Once you're accepted, you're whitelisted straight away.
A few questions
Is Andesite SMP really 18+?
Yes. It's a group of adults and we'd like to keep it that way. It doesn't mean anything goes. The application asks whether you're 18 or over. Anyone found to be under 18 is removed.
Does the world ever reset?
The overworld doesn't, and it never will. Your builds there are permanent. When we move to a new Minecraft version, chunks nobody has touched are regenerated, so the new features turn up close to everyone's bases. The Nether and the End may be refreshed too, with plenty of notice.
How vanilla is semi-vanilla?
Very. There are no new items, blocks or mobs, no money plugin, and no kits beyond a one-time starter kit for new players. The additions are claims, homes, teleport requests, one-player sleep, player shops and the spawn cannon. It runs on Paper with its standard settings, so TNT, carpet and rail duping, sand duping, headless pistons and bedrock breaking don't work, and pistons only move blocks inside claims. Simulation distance is 6 chunks, and mobs spawn within 6 chunks of a player rather than 8.
Is PvP allowed?
Outside spawn, the shopping district and claims, yes. Inside them, no, unless a claim's owner has switched it on with /claimpvp. New players are protected until they pick something up, logging out mid-fight kills you, and /home, /spawn and /tpa are blocked for 15 seconds after a fight.
How active is it?
It's small for now, because the server only opened in September 2026, so you'd be getting in near the start. It has got busier every week since. It's busiest in the UK evening and at weekends, with a quieter stretch around UK lunchtime; Mondays and Tuesdays are the quietest. Most evenings there's someone on, and often a few people at once, but you won't always have company. Nobody is expected to be online every evening.
How do I join?
